How the KleWaDrip

The formerly patented KleWaDrip drip hose is manufactured from a specially formed polyethylene profile.  The profile is perforated in our production facility on a special purpose  machine to provide the correct  drip interval (5 cm and up) and drip volume (from 0.8 to 2.5 l/h per hole).  It is then notched and heat-sealed with an extruder. 

The most important requirements for the efficient and reliable use of a drip hose are extremely long installation rows and resistance to contamination.  During the development of the KleWaTec drip hose, special emphasis was therefore placed on the pressure compensation and the rinsing and self-rinsing functions.

This was made possible by means of a sophisticated system of folds in the interior of the hose and the use of an especially flexible material--a BASF granulate also used in the manufacture of  medical plastics.

The KleWaDrip is extremely flexible in its use.  It gains the necessary stability through reinforcement rings integrated into the outside of the hose, which also serve to protect the walls against abrasion. 

The drip hose is pressed flat and coiled onto spools.  Its small transport volume (4km = 1 m³) makes it possible to ship or warehouse large quantities of drip hose economically and compactly.

How it functions:

When the inner pressure reaches  a minimum of 0.4 bars (=5.8 psi), the sealing folds are pressed together and the water can only flow through the transit channels into the drip channel.  Until the inner pressure reaches 0.4 bars, the hose is subject to a rinsing effect, which is repeated at the time of pressure reduction.  Because the hose´s cross-sectional shape changes, it is very difficult for deposits such as scale or rust (in water with high iron content) to form.  Contamination due to inadequate filtering is rinsed out to the greatest extent possible. When the water supply is cut off, the drains automatically.  Only very small amounts of water remain temporarily in the hose.  When irrigation is finished, the hose dries out completely.  Due to its extreme durability and weather-resistance, the hose can be left in its installed position for many years.

If the water is of extremely poor quality, the KleWaDrip can also be cleaned mechanically.  The hose is placed in the rollers at normal operating pressure.  The cleaning device is pulled in the direction of the line´s end.  The sealing folds are forced open during the stripping process (the hose sprays water out of the next two to three drip openings) and the broken-up deposits are rinsed out.


If the water has a high iron content:

 Install the KleWaDrip with the drip holes facing upward.  If the drip rate falls off, carry out the cleaning operation described above.  Be sure to open the end of the line!
